An atheist…is a man who destroys chimeras harmful to the human race, in order to lead men back to nature, to experience, and to reason.

Assumptuousness

Last night at dinner, my father asked me why I didn’t say grace. I told him it was because I didn’t believe in gods. True to his character, he went into denial mode, and asked who made everything around us. Basically, he assumes something is there despite having no reason to do so.

Tonight, we were searching for my phone, which I had lost in the car, and were listening to its vibration as we called it. Every time the vibrations would go off, he would declare, with total sureness, “It’s under this seat!” or “It’s under the car!”

Again, assuming it was there despite having no reason to do so.

Thought it was an interesting parallel.

There is probably no god. Now stop worrying and enjoy your life.

Could an omnipotent being create a stone so heavy that even that being could not lift it?

There was a time when religion ruled the world. It is known as the Dark Ages.
